The role:
Seriti is offering bursaries for students at University of Science or University of Technology in the following fields:
- Electrical (Heavy Current) & Mechanical Engineering: BSc/BEng/NDip/AdvDip (2nd, 3rd, 4th year)
- Survey: Bachelor of Mine Surveying, BTech, NDip (final year)
- Geology: BTech/BSc Geology (hons)
- Occupational hygiene (VOHE): BSc Mining/Engineering/BTech Science, (major in Occupational Hygiene) (final year)
- Rock Engineer: BSc Engineering (Mining)/BSc Geology (hons)/BEng Tech (final year/hons)
- Metallurgy: BSc Eng/BEng/BTech in extractive metallurgy or chemical engineering (2nd, 3rd, 4th year)
- Finance: Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, (2nd year)
- Human Resources: Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource/Labour Law/related qualification (2nd year)
- Environment: BSc Environmental related/BTech (final year)
- Corporate & Community Relations: BA Communication Science/Public Relations equivalent (final year)
Application Requirements (Who can apply?):
- Students who are currently in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th year of study
- Students already registered at an accredited tertiary institution
- Results above 60%
- Bursaries will not be awarded to students studying a bridging course/foundation program
- Valid South African ID
- Copy of 2022 Academic record
- Brief CV
Advantageous:
- Possible temporary working experience in field of study (VAC work)
- Understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to the Mining Industry including the Mine Health and Safety Act and ability to interpret relevant legislation correctly
Value of Bursary:
- Accommodation allowance
- Meal allowance
- Book allowance
- Tuition fees for 2023 (excluding the previous year’s failed subjects/modules or 2022 outstanding tuition fees including interest charged
Terms & Conditions:
- Student must pass studies
- Obligation to provide vacation work if required
- Work back obligation for students upon completion of their studies
- Specific focus will be placed on students from our communities
- Applicants that are beneficiaries of any other Bursary Programme and/or sponsorship will not be considered
